Description:

The Friendship Museum, established in 1964, is a museum of local history preserving the artifacts and documents of a traditional seafaring community. Given the rich maritime heritage of Friendship, many of the artifacts relate to seafaring: ship models, shipbuilding tools, an impressive collection of half-hulls, lobster and fishing gear, and plans for fishing boats and sailing sloops.

Historic documents record the history of Friendship: old town records letters, journals, diaries, books, and pamphlets. Visual documents include paintings, drawings, vintage photographs and postcards.

Tools and household items associated with everyday life over the past 150 years are displayed: hand-carved decoys, farming implements, tinware, china, and pottery.

Each year the museum devotes a portion of its space to a rotating exhibit.

Museum Hours:

Last Saturday in June-Labor Day: Monday-Saturday 1-4 p.m. and Sunday 2-4 p.m.

Labor Day-Columbus Day: Saturday 1-4 p.m., Sunday 2-4 p.m.
