Great Maine Kites Locations!
265 years ago on June 10, 1752, Benjamin Franklin flew a kite to demonstrate the electrical nature of lightning.
Today, kites are flown mostly for fun. In Maine, kite aficionados love to go to:
- Back Cove, Portland, Maine,
- Bug Light Park in South Portland, ME,
- Fort Williams Park (Portland Head Light) in Cape Elizabeth, Maine
- Ogunquit Beach in Ogunquit, Maine
- Pine Point, Maine in Scarborough, Maine
- Wadsworth Cove/The Backshore in Castine, maine
... just to name a few.
Each May, there's a Bug Light Kite Festival located, ... at Bud Light Park.
There's also a non-official Nor'Easter Kite Association that can be found here: Website
