The 14th annual Pemaquid Oyster Festival takes place on Sunday, September 27 from noon to dusk at the Schooner Landing right in downtown Damariscotta, Maine. The Festival highlights Maine's working waterfront, marine conservation and of course the Damariscotta River where Pemaquid oysters are farmed. Festivities include music, educational exhibits, boat rides, and thousands of oysters which will be freshly harvested right from the Damariscotta River the very morning of the event. For those who are not particularly aficionados of the oyster, there will be a menu with other offerings.

The Pemaquid Oyster Festival is the primary fundraiser for the Edward A. Myers Marine Conservation Fund, named after a pioneer of aquaculture in the Damariscotta River and many other areas. According to Festival organizers, the fund is used continue Edward Myers' vision of a sustainable working waterfront, to protecting Maine's marine environment and to the implementation of education and research projects that focus on marine conservation.

The activities will be held rain or shine, with tents provided to cover the educational exhibits, entertainment stage, and other locations.

Don't miss this event, an annual highlight of Maine’s rich oyster industry.
