Join an adventure by land and sea exploring the legends and lore of lighthouses in the Boothbay Harbor area. Board the passenger vessel Novelty at Pier 8 in Boothbay Harbor for a comfortable hour-long cruise through inshore waters by Ram Island Light, Cuckolds Lighthouse closely and Monhegan Light, Seguin Island Light from afar (some locations are weather and visibility permitting). Learn the stories behind these iconic beacons; about the lives of some of the keepers and their families - daily routines, schooling, traditions and hardships, as well as legends of the lights. The Lady in the Red Cloak will also tell you a few stories of strange happenings at some of these lighthouse locations!

Your voyage then takes a dramatic turn as you make landfall on historic Burnt Island to explore Burnt Island Light, built in 1821 and still a working lighthouse. The group will have exclusive access to the island and the buildings as your qualified Red Cloak Tour Guide leads you back in time, exploring the historically restored facilities on the island, including the keeper's residence and the lighthouse, open for this rare event.

Go home with a new and very personal understanding, not only of the lighthouses, but of the people who manned them. Hear stories of the lives these humble keepers saved while enduring their own physical hardships as they offered those who went to the sea in ships a hopeful light toward home.

A portion of your ticket price will go towards the restoration fund for the Burnt Island Tower, which will be celebrating its anniversary in 2021. It is the only original tower left standing in Maine.
